Persons who may drive the vehicle

The vehicle may be driven during the full period of the hire only by those persons named in the Schedule, and only if they hold a valid driver’s licence. (Note: only persons 18 years and over may be hirers and authorised drivers).

Duration of hire

Our cars rates are charged on a 24-hour basis, and campers on a calendar day basis (When calculating the number of days the Vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the Vehicle’s return is counted as the final day).

Campervans: Minimum rental period is 7 days for same city hires. Minimum rental period for a one-way hire is 14 days.

Cars: Minimum rental period is one day for same city hires. Minimum rental period for a one-way hire is 14 days.

Minimum hire periods are based on fleet distribution and availability, AllWays reserves the right to change without warning.

Amendments to hire

Rates and Conditions quoted in our brochures and/or documentation are subject to change without notice. However (subject to changes in legislation) we will not alter rates or conditions applicable to the rental once the booking has been confirmed unless a booking is amended.

Amendments prior to the vehicle collection date will be re-calculated at the rate applicable on the date of amendment. This applies to changing the vehicle type, reducing the number or rental days, changing pick-up dates and/or changing the pick-up or drop-off location. Where the number of rental days is being extended prior to pick-up (days are being added at the end of the rental with no change to the original pick-up date), the original rate which applied at the time of the original booking, will apply.

Should the hirer decide to voluntarily downgrade their vehicle type from the category booked, they will not be entitled to a refund.

One way rentals

One-way rentals are available between all depot locations. Please note a one way fee may apply if your hire is less than the required minimum one way hire days.

Delivery and Return of the Vehicle

Vehicles will be dispatched in a clean condition and with a full fuel tank.

The Hirer will return the Vehicle in a clean condition with a full fuel tank, on the return date, time and location set out in the Schedule. Failure to adhere to these requirements will result in additional charges.

If the Hirer wishes to change their drop-off destination, they must first obtain authorisation from AllWays. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to NZ$500 may apply, which will be notified at time of approval and is required to be paid immediately via credit card.

Please contact AllWays rental at least 48 hours prior to your origonal return date if you would like to extend your booking. All extensions are subject to availability. If no contact has been made prior to the 48 hour period before your booked return date a late penalty feeof NZ$500 plus the daily rental rate will apply.

Early return does not entitle the hirer to a refund of the unused portion of the rental.

Depot locations are in Auckland Airport and Christchurch Airport. AllWays depots are open 7 days a week, 08:00 to 18:00. Depots are closed Christmas Day (25 December). Operating hours are subject to change. Please ensure you allow adequate time to complete the required paperwork when collecting or returning your vehicle. All Vehicles must be collected from and returned to an AllWays branch.

No shows and late pickups

Failure to collect a vehicle on the confirmed booking date will result in the loss of that hire day unless AllWays Rental have been advised 48 hours prior of the change in booking dates. If you fail to cancell you reservation and don't show to collect your vehicle we reserve the right to charge the full hire amount.

After hour pickups and returns

After Hours dispatches are available on request only. A fee of NZ$30 applies.

After Hours return fee of NZ$45 applies which includes airport car parking costs.

Payment

Full hire charges need to payed prior to vehicle dispatch. The hirer must have a credit card and an imprint will be taken regardless of insurance option taken. This is to cover for any parking and speed camera fines, puncture repair and relocation and cleaning fees as incurred in connection with the hirer’s possession of the vehicle, including those which become apparent following termination of the hire.

All charges and expenses payable by the customer under the rental agreement are due on demand by AllWays Rental including any collection costs and reasonable legal fees incurred by AllWays Rental. When the customer comprises of more than one person, each person is liable jointly and severally for all obligations of the customer pursuant to this agreement. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. A non-refundable surcharge of 4.5% will be added to all American Express transactions.

Credit card administration fees also apply to debited Security Bond. A non-refundable 2.1% administration fee will apply to all Visa and MasterCard transactions. A non-refundable 4.5% administration fee will apply to American Express cards.

Insurance

Third Party insurance is included in the quoted rate. The third party insurance covers you for all damage to a third party vehicle in the unlikely event of an accident.

The Hirer will have to pay an excess in respect of any damage incurred whilst in the Hirer’s possession.

In the event of a Single Vehicle Accident (SVA), the excess is increased as detailed below.

The excess may be reduced by paying for Liability Reduction coverage.

Security Bond

We take a credit card imprint as a bond from your credit card when you pick up your vehicle. This is the insurance excess if an accident occurs and for which you are deemed to be at fault. The bond covers your accident-damage liability plus any additional costs or any traffic infringements, losses or breakages. The full excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if AllWays Rental is successful in recovering the costs of the damages from the Third Party. Please note insurance is not compulsory in NZ therefore if you are hit by an uninsured driver you may still be liable for the excess. Credit card details must be on all rental agreements and must be the credit card of the main hirer unless prior arrangements have been made.

Liability Reduction

We have two options to reduce the excess you are liable for. This is in addition to the daily rate and it is non-refundable. Purchasing one of these options will reduce the amount you have to pay and is on a per incident basis. If an accident occurs a new insurance option will be required for the remaining days of your hire which means you must report any incident to AllWays Car Rental as soon as it happens. Road restrictions

Please note that vehicles are not covered by insurance when travelling on the following roads:

Skippers Road (Queenstown)

Ball Hut Rd (Mt Cook)

Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)

Roads north or Colville Township

Windscreen/tyres cover

Windscreen or glass breakages and tyres are not covered by the standard hire insurance but are included in the Option 3 cover options. An additional non-refundable premium of $5 per hire day will cover you for the loss or breakage of windscreens or windows to the vehicle. This cover excludes sunroofs.

Licenses

You must have a valid driver’s license (held for over one year) and be over the age of 18. New Zealand recognises driver’s licences issued by your own country (as long as in an English format), as well as ‘international driver’s licenses’.

Roadside assistance

If you have any mechanical troubles during the time you travel New Zealand we provide free AA 24 hour roadside assistance. The AA will assist you free of charge for any mechanical issues. A call out fee of up to $140 applies, payable by the hirer should you require assistance for any non mechanical issues including: locking keys in vehicle, loosing keys, running the battery flat, punctures to tyres, running out of fuel or putting the wrong fuel in the vehicle, requiring towage due to getting vehicle bogged. In order to query the call-out fee an AA certified report indicating the fault is required and must be presented on the return of your vehicle. No refunds will be considered without a certified report.

You must contact us immediately if any major repairs are needed for your vehicle. Failure to do so may compromise any claim that may eventuate after the hire is finished.

AllWays Rental is only liable for refunding the time that the vehicle was actually in repair and will not pay for alternative accommodation or food requirements during that time. Retrospective claims will not be accepted by AllWays Rental.

Exchange vehicle

We can not guarantee the availability of an exchange vehicle. Provision is subject to availability, client location, damage or accident liability and remaining hire duration. If an Exchange Vehicle is required as a result of an accident or damage which can not be repaired within 2 working days, the hirer is responsible for making their own way to the nearest AllWays branch or pickup location. We may offer you the option of paying an 'Exchange Vehicle Relocation Fee' to send a driver to deliver the Exchange Vehicle to your location. This fee is payable in relation to delivery of a change-over vehicle as a result of any single vehicle accident. This charge applies irrespective of any excess reduction taken.

Infringements and Toll Road

We will hold your credit card imprint for 30 days after the vehicle has been returned in case any traffic infringement notices are presented to us. We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle. The hirer will incur a $75 administration charge for each speeding or parking infringement that is received during the hire period. This charge does not in any way cover the actual infringement costs, for which the hirer will remain liable. The $75 charge will be deducted from the hirer’s credit card on receipt of the infringement.

Cancellations

Once AllWays rental has confirmed a booking it is subject to our cancellation policy.

Cars

No charge if a reservation is cancelled up to 20 days in advance.

If cancelled 8-19 days prior then forfeit 25% of gross rental

If cancelled 1- 7 days prior then forfeit 50% of gross rental

If cancelled on day of pick up or no show then forfeit 100% of gross rental

Campers

20% non-refundable deposit is required when making the reservation.

If cancelled 20 – 29 days prior then forfeit 25% of gross rental

If cancelled 8-19 days prior then forfeit 30% of gross rental

If cancelled 1- 7 days prior then forfeit 50% of gross rental

If cancelled on day or pick up or no show then forfeit 100% of gross rental

If the vehicle (car or campervan) is returned early for any reason whatsoever after travel has commenced then no refund is available.

Returning your vehicle

When you return your vehcile, it will be checked for damages against the check sheet signed on collection. Damage cost will be indicated on the check sheet and will be charged.

When you return your camper, it will be checked for damages against the check sheet signed on collection. We will also check to ensure that all the contents are still present, clean and free of damage. If items are damaged or missing, the replacement cost indicated on the check sheet will be charged.

You must return your vehicle with the same amount of fuel that was in the vehicle when your hire began. If you return with less than a full tank you will be required to go to the closest petrol station and fill the tank or pay a fee of $35 in addition to cost of fuel.

Please ensure that you return your vehicle free of rubbish. Vehicles that are returned excessively dirty will incur a cleaning charge of $150. "Excessively dirty" will be determined by the manager of the depot you return to and is defined by "mess, stains and odour" that are difficult to remove from the vehicle.

Vehicles must be returned to the depot specified in the Rental Agreement. If not returned to the branch detailed, a relocation fee of NZ$500 will be charged.

Rental of GPS devices

If the GPS unit is lost or not returned the hirer is liable for the replacement cost of $400 to AllWays Rental.

Child seating

Child seats must be pre-booked and are subject to availability. All child restraints hired from AllWays Rental must be secured by, and are the responsibility of the driver.

Exchange rate / currency fluctuations

All transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, there could be some variance between the amount initially debited against your credit card and the amount refunded at the expiration of the rental period. AllWays Rental is not liable for such variations.

Cook strait crossing

We do not provide vehicle change over in Wellington or Picton, but we are more than happy to assist you to book the ferry. More information regarding the ferry can be found from www.bluebridge.co.nz and www.interislander.co.nz
